Yes it was a composite connection, all Sony provided unfortunately. Someone emailed us suggesting that NTSC wouldn't work through composite and it would only work through RGB or S-Video, hence why it was black'n'white. Unfortunately, it now appears that DVD playback via RGB isn't possible on the PS2.
